Welcome to Meaamor ("App," "we," "our," or "us"), operated by Maneged Tech. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy describes exactly how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Services").

This policy is legally binding and has been drafted to comply with:

2. Information We Collect

We collect several different types of information to provide and improve our Service for you and your partner.

2.1. Information You Provide to Us Directly

  1. Account Registration Data:
    • Personal Identity: Full Name, Email Address, Phone Number (optional).
    • Authentication Data: Password hashes (handled via Appwrite/Firebase Auth), Google/Apple ID tokens.
    • Profile Data: Profile picture, Date of Birth, Gender (optional).
  2. Relationship Data ("Couple Data"):
    • Partnership Details: Partner’s name/email, Anniversary date, Relationship status (e.g., Dating, Married, Long-Distance).
    • Shared Content: Answers to daily quizzes, "Doodles" (drawings), shared notes, relationship timeline events, and shared lists.
    • Chat Data: Text messages, voice notes, images, and videos sent between you and your partner. Note: We prioritize privacy, but unless E2E encryption is explicitly enabled in settings, data may be stored encrypted at rest on our servers.
  3. User Content: Feedback, crash reports, and support inquiries you send to us.

2.2. Information Collected Automatically

When you access the App, we automatically collect certain technical information:

  1. Device Information:
    • Device model (e.g., iPhone 15, Samsung Galaxy S24).
    • Operating System version (iOS/Android).
    • Unique Device Identifiers (UDID, IDFA, Android ID) - used strictly for analytics and fraud prevention, not for third-party ad tracking.
    • IP Address (used to derive approximate location like country/city for localization).
  2. Usage Data:
    • Interaction Logs: Time spent on specific screens, features used (e.g., "Quiz", "Timeline"), buttons clicked.
    • Session Data: Date and time of visits, crash logs, and performance diagnostics.
    • Sync Status: Timestamp of last data synchronization with your partner.
  3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies:
    • We use technologies like cookies, beacons, and tags within the App and our website to track activity.
    • Providers: We specifically use PostHog and Firebase Analytics for these purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process your data for the following specific purposes:

3.1. To Provide the Service (Contractual Necessity)

  • Account Creation: Verify identity and create your unique user profile.
  • Pairing: Link your account with your partner’s account to enable shared features.
  • Core Functionality: Sync quiz answers, deliver chat messages, update the relationship timeline, and display shared calendars.
  • Notifications: Send push notifications for new quizzes, partner replies, or anniversary reminders via Firebase Cloud Messaging.

3.2. To Improve Our App (Legitimate Interest)

  • Analytics: Understand which questions users enjoy most, identify "drop-off" points in the app, and optimize user flows (using PostHog).
  • Debugging: Use crash logs (via Firebase Crashlytics) to fix stability issues.
  • Feature Development: Analyze aggregated, anonymized data to build new features (e.g., "Most popular date ideas").

3.3. Communication & Support

  • To respond to your customer service requests.
  • To send administrative information, such as changes to our terms, conditions, and policies.

3.4. Legal Compliance

  • To comply with applicable laws (e.g., tax laws for purchases).
  • To respond to valid legal process (e.g., subpoenas or court orders).

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR - Europe)

If you are from the European Economic Area (EEA), our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described above depends on the Personal Information concerned and the specific context in which we collect it:

  1. Performance of a Contract: We need to process your data (chats, quiz answers) to fulfill our contract with you (i.e., to provide the App's core functionality).
  2. Consent: We ask for your consent for specific actions, such as sending marketing emails or accessing your device's photo library/microphone. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
  3. Legitimate Interests: We track usage analytics to improve our product, provided these interests are not overridden by your data protection rights.
  4. Legal Obligation: We may process data to comply with legal requirements (e.g., preventing fraud or illegal content).

5. Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell your personal data. We only share your data in the following circumstances:

5.1. With Your Partner

  • By design, significant portions of your data (Quiz answers, Chat history, Timeline events, Calendar entries, Profile photo) are shared with the specific user account you have actively linked as your "Partner."

5.2. Service Providers (Data Processors)

We employ third-party companies/individuals to facilitate our Service. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

5.3. Legal Requirements

5.4. Business Transfers

If Meaamor is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.


6. International Data Transfers

Your information, including Personal Data, may be processed on computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ.

  • For EU Users: Our transfers of personal data to third countries (like the USA) are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
  • For Indian Users: Data is processed in compliance with the IT Act, ensuring reasonable security practices.

7. Data Retention

We retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.

  • Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active.
  • Chat/Quiz Data: Retained for the lifetime of the account to allow you to look back on memories.
  • Deletion: If you delete your account, we direct our systems to delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., tax records for IAP).

8. Your Data Protection Rights

8.1. GDPR Rights (Europe)

  • Right to Access: Request copies of your personal data.
  • Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request deletion of your data.
  • Right to Restrict Processing: Ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Right to Portability: Request transfer of your data to another organization.

8.2. CCPA/CPRA Rights (California/USA)

  • Right to Opt-Out: Meaamor does not sell personal data, so an opt-out for sales is not applicable.
  • Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
  • Shine the Light Law: CA residents may ask for a list of third parties to whom we disclosed personal info for marketing purposes (We do not do this).

8.3. Rights for Indian Users

  • Right to Confirmation and Access: Obtain confirmation on whether we are processing your data.
  • Right to Correction: Correct misleading or outdated data.
  • Grievance Redressal: Right to readily available means of grievance redressal (See Section 12).

9. Security of Data

We use commercially reasonable efforts to protect your personal data, including:

  • Encryption at Rest: Ensuring databases (Appwrite/Firebase) are encrypted on disk.
  • Encryption in Transit: Using SSL/TLS (HTTPS) for all network communications.
  • Access Controls: Limiting access to personal data to authorized employees/contractors under confidentiality agreements.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.


10. Children's Privacy

Meaamor is strictly intended for users who are 13 years of age or older (or 16+ in certain EU jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under these ages. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take strict steps to remove that information from our servers.


11. Third-Party Links

Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us (e.g., Date Night suggestions). If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.


12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  1. Updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy.
  2. Sending a push notification or an in-app alert for material changes.
